My tan looks uneven or patchy.Updated 2 months ago

If your tan doesn’t appear as you’d hoped, there are a few ways to ensure you achieve the best results possible. Streaky, uneven or patchy self-tanning results can happen with improper tanning preparation or application.

  • Prepare your skin properly: If you want your tan to stick around (and look flawless), you need to prep your skin correctly.

    • If you need a wax or manicure, to wash your hair or shave your legs, do these treatments at least 24 hours beforehand, as these activities can remove the tan and prevent it from fully developing.

    • Don't use body wash, soaps, lotions, oils, shampoos or conditioners the same day that you apply or rinse off your tan. These products act as barriers to your skin and prevent the active ingredients in your tan from developing properly.

    • Exfoliate your skin and remove any old, existing tan 24 hour hours before your tan application. We recommend using your Tan Removing & Skin Polishing Glove in conjunction with your Deluxe Tan Remover for the best results.

    • We recommend paying extra attention and generously applying moisturisers to your hands, feet, ankles, wrists, elbows and knees immediately before tanning. Moisturiser will stop the tan from overdeveloping and sticking to dry skin spots.

  • Check your application:

    • Each Loving Tan product is equipped with a tinted colour guide to show you exactly where you have already applied the tan. As long as you have a full, even coverage of the tinted colour guide, your results will develop flawlessly.

    • Always use an Applicator Mitt or Flawless Tanning Brush to apply your self-tan.
